About This Work
This portrait study shows the preliminary ideas for the Dead Ringers series originally produced in 1996.
The work is an exploration of my main theoretical interests at the time which touched upon the notion that vision and visuality are instrumental in creating subjective space.
I was interested in the compositional workings of presenting the back view ‘the turning away’ with a more traditional three quarter frontal pose and what effect this construction has on the viewer.
Shot on 4×5 film and printed on Type-C Colour, 500mmx600mm.
